Norfolk CCC is excited to confirm details of its National County 50-Over match for the 2025 season, which will take place at Barkers Lane, Sprowston CC on Monday 4 August starting at 11.00 a.m.

Norfolk CCC will take on Kent Spitfires for the second time in their history, the last occasion being in the third round of the 2002 Cheltenham and Gloucester Trophy at Manor Park, Horsford.

The Spitfires are treating the match as ideal preparation ahead of the Men’s Metro Bank One Day Cup, which begins for the Spitfires on Thursday 7 August away at Arundel against Sussex Sharks.

Previously, the Spitfires have faced Suffolk, Hertfordshire and most recently Bedfordshire in the showcase fixtures – Kent winning by 57 runs (DLS) in Dunstable last Summer, with Beyers Swanepoel making 120 opening the batting, Harry Finch scoring 97, and Jas Singh taking 4-70.

Norfolk CCC have faced Nottinghamshire twice and put up a very good show last season against a strong Northamptonshire Steelbacks.

This match will form part of the Norfolk Cricket Festival that starts at Sprowston CC with the visit of Hertfordshire on 20th July for a three-day championship game followed by another championship fixture on 27th July against Northumberland.

Kent’s Director of Cricket, Simon Cook, said: “The National County Match is one we look forward to every year, playing at new venues and helping to grow participation in cricket across new areas.

“These matches are a fantastic opportunity for our younger players to gain 50-over match scenario experience against a first-team side, as well as giving our more experienced pros match practice in this format ahead of the Metro Bank One Day Cup.

“Norfolk who are the current holders of the National Counties one day trophy will provide us with a stern test, and we will need to perform well to win – exactly the sort of scenario I want us to have after a change in format for us from the Rothesay County Championship in early August.”
